Today, we were very lucky to have the chance to hold and cuddle all of the chicks!! We were all very excited!!! We had to wait a few days because of how delicate they were when they first hatched! But today was the day!!! Everyone moved the tables and we sat in a big circle making sure there were no gaps in case a chick tried to escape!!!
Luckily, the chicks didn't escape, in fact they fell asleep on most of us, which was the cutest thing ever!!! We had to put them back, because we could tell they were starting to get really tired!!! We are looking forward to seeing the chicks every day next week for even more cuddles!!!!

We were very lucky today to see some of our chicks hatching!
However, it was made even better by Miss Shears making a time lapse of one of them hatching.
It was absolutely fascinating to watch!!!
Today was a very special day.......even more special than the other days we have at school!!! This was because, when we all arrived, all of the children in Year 3/4 were talking about the chicks!!!
Now, when we left yesterday, they were eggs!!! Yet, when we walked through the hall, everyone was talking about how we now have four freshly hatched chicks!!! It was so exciting!! We all really wanted to see them!!!!
After Miss Shears had taken the register, she showed us some of the photos she had taken of the chicks this morning when she came into school!!!
The chicks are so cute, and we can't wait until the get really fluffy!!! After spelling, Mrs Fellowes sorted out a 'live feed' of some more of the chicks hatching, which was something absolutely fantastic to watch!!!
We will post some of the videos in the next few days that we have of our lovely new chicks so keep checking back to our blog!!!

After school today, Miss Shears set up her iPad in Mrs Hewitt's classroom, to try out a time lapse on our chicks!! Although the time lapse isn't very long, it was actually filming the eggs for nearly an hour!
The video has been attached below, so click on it and see what is happening to our eggs........
It's all very exciting!!! We are hoping to come in tomorrow to see some more changes!!!

This afternoon, during our PE lesson, we suddenly had to stop because our surprise had arrived!!!!!!!
At this point, no one knew what the surprise was and Miss Shears was still somehow managing to keep it a secret!!!
We lined up on the playground and started to make our way back into school, where we were walking towards Mrs Hewitt's class......this was the point where we all realised something different was about to happen!!!
As we walked into the classroom, we saw all of Mr Ward's and Mrs Hewitt's class huddled around the tables in the corner of the classroom....still very strange!!!
All of a sudden, a man started to talk (he was wearing a visitors badge so at this point we knew the teachers knew who he was, but we still didn't) Mrs Fellowes was holding her camera and as usual, so was Miss Shears!!!
The man started to ask us what it was he had put next to him....it was an incubator!!!! He began to explain how we were going to be looking after some chicks over the next couple of weeks!! How exciting!! He opened an egg box and began to move the eggs into the incubator!!! Well where are the chicks??????????
He continued to explain to use how we were to look after them, and what we should expect over the next few days!! This was very exciting, and we could see how intrigued everyone was and how happy they all were for having this opportunity!!!
He continued to explain what we needed to do and showed us a huge poster of instructions and tips to help us through the process!!!
We also got the opportunity to ask a few questions which was brilliant, because we were all thinking.......Are they the same eggs we buy in the supermarket????
Keep checking back to see the progress of our chicks......hopefully this will include more photos, videos, time lapses and even maybe a live feed!!!!

Today, as a whole school we were taking part in 'BREAK THE RULES' day! For this, we were allowed to come to school wearing whatever we wanted to! For some of us, this involved wearing a tutu, bright pink socks, leggings and a fame t-shirt (and that was just Mrs Hall!!!!!!!) The rest of us wore some of our favourite clothes, as well as bright coloured wigs and even decided to have our hair coloured!
However, for every piece of clothing we were wearing which was not our school uniform, we donated 50p!!!
As a whole class, we raised over £45 which was a fantastic effort!!!! Well done everyone, and thank you so much for supporting our PTA!!!
Today, on the final day of Arts Week (sad face), we were lucky to be back with Miss Shears, back in the comfort of our own classroom, and our own chairs, drinks bottles, pencils and knowing where everything is!!!! All week we have been watching the pebbles progress from looking as if Miss Shears has just glued them on a piece of wood, to being painted in so many different colours!! It was brilliant to come back every afternoon (about 3pm) to see the newly painted pebbles....however, today it was our turn!!!!
We started off by looking at lots of the designs of pebbles which Miss Shears had found, as well as looking around the classroom at all of the previously painted pebbles!!! Once we discussed the use of bright colours, and mixing the paint to create different colours, we began to design some of our very own pebbles!!
From the photos, you might be able to see that there were A LOT of pebbles which still needed painting, which meant we needed to make sure all eight of our designs were the very best they could possibly be, because today we were probably going to be painting more than one pebble!!!
Once the designs were finished and Miss Shears and Mrs Hall checked them, we began to sketch our design onto any of the pebbles! Here comes the exciting part.....the painting!!!!
We made sure that our pebble sketches were just as good as our designs!! At this point, we also realised that what Miss Shears had been saying all morning about 'keeping the design simple' was being said for a very good reason. She did say it about a million times, and now we know why!!!! It was so difficult to transfer our design onto the pebbles, even the really big pebbles, so at this point we sort of guessed that Miss Shears does know what she is talking about!!!!!
We got prepared for the painting, all wearing an apron, rolling up our sleeves, and making sure we had all of the colours we needed!! Now it was the moment of truth.....the painting can begin!!!!!!!!
By the end of the day, all of the pebbles has been painted, such a fantastic achievement by all of us and everyone else in the school!!! We could see how proud Miss Shears and Mrs Hall were of the fact that all of the pebbles had been completed, even to the point where they both sat down and had a moment to reflect on how hard everyone has worked this week!!
We have all had an amazing Arts Week, it has been really enjoyable, we have practised and learnt so many new skills and techniques, and we can't wait to see the whole school display when it's all completed.
A massive thank you to all of the teachers and teaching assistants who have allowed us to have such an amazing week!!!! WE HAVE ALL LOVED IT!!!!

WOW!!!!! What a day!!!!!!!! Not only did our day involve rather a lot of fish, it also involved......a dolphin, a stingray and a gigantic fish!!!!!!!
We were with Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Job today, and there is no better way to celebrate day 3 of Arts Week than to be part of the making and painting of some life size marine life!!!!!!!
When Miss Shears first came into the class (to take photos), we were sketching our fish. This was our first activity, all based on using different tones!!! Some of us even decided to draw turtles, jellyfish, dolphins and sharks!!!! (This is where we needed to use the ipads to make sure our sketches were accurate!!!!)
Mrs Hewitt was very pleased with our sketches, and how even though we completed this first activity really quickly, our end result was fantastic!!!!!!
Some of us even got the chance to see the dolphin................
Unfortunately, we haven't installed an aquarium into the resource room though!!!!!
Once we completed the sketches and used the tracing paper, we were ready to paint........
Another moment where Miss Shears thought we needed an aquarium............
Here we have a stingray and a very large fish being beautifully collaged by some of our children!!!!
As we came into the afternoon, some of us continued to finish their first activity, as well as collaging the stingray and enormous fish, whilst some of us began on the final task!!!!
We had a fantastic time today with Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Job!!!! We are now looking forward to our final day where we get to paint the pebbles which we have been rather over excited to do all week!!!!!!!!
