Fitness for Life

This afternoon in PE, we focused on the stamina aspect of fitness. From taking part in the Golden Mile in the morning, we have all massively improved our fitness (and it makes us more alert and ready for the day), however, Miss Shears wanted to see what our stamina was like doing specific fitness activities. Not only to help improve our stamina, but to also work on different muscles, which is something we discussed and could remember from our Science learning last year!!!

We were all physically active for 30 minutes straight, and even though we felt tired at the end of it, we know that it will ultimately benefit us. Miss Shears is going to introduce an indoor fitness session with the afternoons too to help us improve even more!!

Here are some photos of us completing the fitness stations:

Towards the end of the lesson, all of us were taking part in the 'sit up challenge' where we were in pairs and supported our partner to do as many sit ups as possible in 30 seconds. Then they were challenged to beat their score! It was so much fun because we had the chance to challenge ourselves and to really push ourselves!

Bring on the next fitness lesson :)

Remembrance Day Poppies

Today, as part of our instructional text learning in English, we made our very own poppies. It was quite a challenge, however, it was very rewarding for us! Not only did we follow the instructions successfully, we also learnt so much more about the importance of Remembrance Day and why it is so important for all of us and everyone in our lives.

Making our own FISH

This morning, as part of our English learning, Miss Shears introduced us to instructional texts. We have all learnt about instructions in previous years, however, this time, Miss Shears was helping us to develop the vocabulary we use when following instructions. All of this will help us to write our very own set of instructions. More specifically, Miss Shears gave us the chance to explore and up-level the 'bossy verbs' which we will be using....this was very interesting and challenging, but we were all up for it!!!

After discussing the features of an instructional text together and giving examples of where we have seen instructions before, we were given the task to follow specific instructions to make our very own paper plate fish.....

We don't think any of us expected our fish to look as good as they did...Miss Shears was very proud of what we all achieved. Here are some of our finished fish.....

We loved following the instructions and are really looking forward to our next English lesson, continuing with instructional texts.
